A harrowing road accident shook Rohtak, Haryana, where a speeding Verna car struck a mother and daughter from behind while they were walking toward a park near Jaat Bhawan. Prompt action by local bystanders ensured that the fleeing occupants of the car were captured at the scene while the injured victims were rushed to a medical facility. Passersby immediately notified the local police authorities about the tragic incident.
The Incident During Evening Walk
Neelam, wife of the late Narendra Singh Malik and a resident of Gopal Colony, recounted the harrowing sequence of events. She explained that on Sunday late afternoon at around 4:30 PM, she and her mother, Krishna Devi, headed out toward Devi Lal Park for their routine walk. At approximately 4:45 PM near Jaat Bhawan, a fast-moving Verna car approached from behind and struck them both. Neelam shared that the impact threw her a distance away, while her mother Krishna Devi fell directly in front of the vehicle.
Car Runs Over Victim and Locals Intervene
According to the accounts, instead of stopping, the occupants drove the car over Krishna Devi, trapping her underneath the vehicle. Witnessing this horrifying spectacle, people nearby rushed forward, intercepted the car, and caught the individuals on the spot. Although the driver and his companion attempted to flee, the alert crowd prevented their escape. When pulled out of the vehicle by passersby, the accused appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Bystanders extricated Krishna Devi from beneath the car and rushed her in an injured condition to PGI, while simultaneously informing the Urban Estate police station.
