Law enforcement agencies dealt a significant blow to the Lawrence Bishnoi network following an armed encounter in Haryana's Sonipat district. A joint team comprising the Special Task Force (STF) and the Delhi Police Crime Branch intercepted and apprehended a wanted shooter identified as Rohit alias Budha after an exchange of fire.
Ambush and Shootout on Chhatthera-Barota Road
Acting on actionable intelligence regarding the suspect's movements, the joint security team set up a tactical perimeter along the Chhatthera-Barota road. Upon spotting the police blockade, the suspect attempted to escape, prompting an intense exchange of gunfire between both sides. During the firefight, Rohit sustained bullet injuries to both legs and collapsed on the road. Officers swiftly secured the perimeter, took him into custody, and transported him to a government hospital for medical treatment.
Extensive Criminal Record and Active Warrants
The apprehended operative is a resident of Ladpur village in Sonipat. According to police records, Rohit alias Budha faces roughly a dozen criminal charges, including attempted murder, robbery, and extortion. He was actively wanted by authorities in connection with a shooting outside the residence of a Haryanvi singer and for making extortion demands against a local businessman.
Recovery of Weapons and Ongoing Investigation
Following the encounter, police recovered illegal firearms, a motorcycle, and a bag from his possession. Investigators from the Sonipat STF have initiated a thorough review of his operational network and past crimes. Authorities are currently examining his communication channels and questioning his associates to uncover further links with the wider gang syndicate.
