The body of Vikram Singh Rana, an engineer from Takoli Ghirthan village in the Fatehpur subdivision of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, has finally been recovered following the devastating landslide in Wayanad, Kerala. The discovery comes six days after the tragic incident occurred, casting a pall of gloom over the entire region. Vikram Singh Rana was employed with the DBL company. According to current reports, his mortal remains are expected to reach his ancestral village by Monday.
Conclusion of the Search Operation
Vikram Singh Rana had been missing since the catastrophic landslide that struck Wayanad on July 7. His brothers, Kulwant Singh and Pramod Rana, arrived in Kerala on July 8 to assist in the search efforts. Following an intensive search operation conducted by the Kerala administration and rescue teams, the body was recovered on Sunday afternoon. The authorities are currently conducting a post-mortem, after which the remains will be transported to Himachal Pradesh.
Family Expresses Gratitude
Pramod Rana, the brother of the deceased, expressed profound gratitude to the Kerala government, the local administration, the rescue teams, and the people of the state for their unwavering support during this trying time. He stated that they witnessed the true face of humanity on the soil of Kerala. He added that the family will never forget the help they received during this period of immense suffering.
Two Youths from Himachal Perished
The news of Vikram's death has plunged Takoli Ghirthan and the entire Fatehpur area into mourning. Locals are praying for the peace of the departed soul and are offering support to the grieving family. It is worth noting that this disaster has claimed the lives of two youths from Himachal Pradesh. Rahul, a resident of Rewalsar in the Mandi district, who was working as an engineer on a twin tunnel project in the area, also died in the landslide. His body was found on the third day of the search. Rahul had been married just four months prior to the incident.
