Weather across Himachal Pradesh has remained completely clear with bright sunshine for the past week. While a mild chill has begun across the state, cold conditions have noticeably intensified in Lahaul-Spiti and other high-altitude regions. The weather is expected to stay dry and pleasant during Diwali and the coming days, with sunshine forecasted until November 9 according to meteorological officials.
Current Temperature Trends and Meteorological Outlook
Director of the Meteorological Centre Shobhit Katiyar stated that continuous sunshine has prevailed across the state over the past few days with no active precipitation recorded. This dry and sunny pattern is likely to persist through November 9. Daytime temperatures across the state are currently running about 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal. Maximum temperatures hover between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius in lower plains, 20 to 24 degrees Celsius in mid-hills, and 15 to 18 degrees Celsius in high-altitude regions. Temperatures are expected to stay slightly above normal until November 9 before dropping around November 10 and 11.
Weak Western Disturbance and High-Altitude Changes
Authorities noted that a weak western disturbance is becoming active, which could impact the higher reaches of the state on November 10 and 11. This system is expected to bring very light rain and snowfall to elevated zones, though the impact will not be widespread. Specifically, temperatures in the mid and high hills are anticipated to experience a dip on November 10 and 11.
Snowfall Status in Shimla
Addressing queries regarding snowfall in Shimla, the meteorological center director clarified that no weather disturbances are likely in Shimla city for the next five to seven days. Consequently, snowfall is not expected in the capital city anytime soon. Officials added that whenever conditions become favorable for snowfall in Shimla or any major city in the state, the meteorological department will issue an advance notice four to five days prior.
