The food supply department in Ranchi has significantly tightened the rules and regulations for issuing new ration cards and modifying existing ones across Jharkhand. Under the revised framework, a basic address proof is no longer sufficient to secure a card. The department has rolled out a strict procedure requiring applicants to submit six mandatory documents along with several additional certificates.
Mandatory Documents for Online Submission
When applying through the official department website, users must fill out complete details for every family member. The updated norms mandate the online uploading of a photograph of the house as proof of actual residence, the applicant's Aadhaar card, a residential certificate, an income certificate, bank account details, and a passport-size photograph. The portal has been upgraded so that if even a single document is missing among these six, the system will reject the submission.
Birth Certificate and Household Details
Providing the birth certificate of every single family member has also been made compulsory. In cases where a member lacks a birth certificate, a matriculation certificate will be accepted as a valid alternative. Furthermore, applicants must disclose the family's primary income sources, the total number of rooms in their permanent dwelling, and any applicable tax payment details.
Mobile Number Linking and OTP Verification
Another major procedural shift involves mobile numbers. It is now mandatory to register the mobile number of every family member. An OTP will be sent to the registered numbers, and the application process can only proceed after successful OTP verification. This strict protocol applies universally to issuing new cards, adding or removing members, and correcting existing information.
Physical Verification and E-KYC Requirements
Prior to submitting the application, completing e-KYC with the designated local dealer is compulsory. A ration card will only be issued after the physical verification of both the house photograph and all submitted paperwork. The government's primary objective behind this overhaul is to ensure that welfare benefits reach eligible households while effectively preventing fraudulent practices.
