Reshma, a resident of Ranchi, has carved out a distinct identity for herself by producing items made from maize and finger millet. Operating directly from her residence, she prepares a wide variety of items including maize biscuits, maize laddoos, finger millet laddoos, pickles, and several kinds of savory snacks.
High demand and direct phone orders
Reshma prepares more than 50 different types of products inside her home. Today, she faces no shortage of customers for her goods. The demand for her maize biscuits and finger millet products is so high that her inventory frequently runs out of stock. People place orders with her directly over the phone, and she ensures the goods are delivered straight to their doorsteps.
Empowering other women
Reshma is not only advancing her own path but is also training 100 women to make them self-reliant. She actively works to uplift the women connected to her Sakhi Mandal and raises her voice for their rights. Her ultimate goal is to see every woman standing on her own feet and becoming financially strong.
Training in packaging and exhibitions
Alongside teaching women how to manufacture these food products, she also instructs them in branded packaging techniques and how to set up stalls at trade fairs and exhibitions.
Encouraging women to rely on their skills
Reshma believes that times have changed and empowerment is essential for women in the modern era. According to her, every woman should start a venture based on whatever innate skill she possesses.
She emphasizes that even if a venture starts on a small scale with a daily earning of just 5 rupees, having an independent income is crucial. Once women start earning their own money, the scope for their exploitation and misuse decreases significantly. Reshma's mindset and hard work are emerging as a shining example for numerous women across society today.
