Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have thrown up a mix of important stories today, from a family's homecoming to Sanatan Dharma in Bastar to a sharp jump in offerings at Ujjain's Kaal Bhairav temple. There is also a student protest in Jabalpur, a farmer's death after a lightning strike in Mandla, a big statement from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in Bhopal, and a tragic electrocution death in Ujjain. Here is a full round up of the top developments from both states.
Seven Members of a Bastar Family Return to Sanatan Dharma
A moving story has emerged from Chhattisgarh's Bastar district. In Kulgaon village under the Nangur area, seven members of one family have returned to their original Sanatan Dharma. The family had converted to Christianity a few years ago, after which they gradually drifted away from the village's traditions, customs and cultural practices. The village head and other residents spent a long time counselling the family, following which the family decided to return to their earlier faith. All seven members were formally brought back into Sanatan Dharma through proper religious rituals. Once they returned, the rest of the villagers welcomed the family warmly.
Ujjain's Kaal Bhairav Temple Rakes In Over Rs 3 Crore in a Month and a Half
Another big story comes from the temple town of Ujjain. The famous Kaal Bhairav temple here had introduced a paid quick darshan facility priced at Rs 500, and it has turned out to be a massive revenue booster for the temple administration. According to temple figures, between 20 May and 3 July, a period of roughly one and a half months, this quick darshan ticket scheme brought in earnings of Rs 3 crore 9 lakh 27 thousand. Interestingly, this figure does not even include the days when the crowd was so heavy that VIP tickets could not be issued at all, meaning actual earnings could be even higher. The temple management had introduced this paid quick darshan option to manage the constantly rising number of devotees and to keep the darshan process orderly.
Ujjain Accident: Snapped Power Line Spreads Current, Bike Rider Killed
Ujjain also witnessed a tragic accident. During heavy rain on Sunday night, a high tension power line snapped near Harifatak Chowk and fell directly onto the road. The rainwater already collected on the road got electrified as a result. A young man riding a motorcycle through the area at the time came in contact with the live current and died on the spot. His two nephews, who were riding pillion with him, managed to jump off the bike in time and save themselves.

The Ujjain Municipal Corporation has also taken a strict safety related step in the city. The structure, located on part of survey number 379, belonged to Ramprasad, son of Madanlal Chouhan. The corporation had earlier issued a notice asking the owner to demolish the building himself, but no action was taken within the given deadline. Following this, the corporation's team used a poclain machine to safely demolish the crumbling structure.
Jabalpur Students Block Road Over New Dress Code
From Jabalpur comes news of a protest by students of the Government Home Science College. The students staged a road blockade on the stretch in front of Shastri Bridge, right outside the college campus. They allege that the college administration has forced a new dress code on them. The students say the cost of the new uniform is too high, and this is a major point of their objection, along with a few other grievances they raised. Police reached the spot as soon as news of the protest broke and began trying to counsel the students. The entire incident took place in the Shastri Bridge area under Madan Mahal police station limits.
Mandla Farmer Killed by Lightning Strike While Ploughing His Field
A heartbreaking incident has been reported from Mandla district. A farmer lost his life after being struck by lightning in Baniya village under Ghughri police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Tulsiram Tilgam, a resident of the village. At the time of the incident, he was ploughing his field with a plough. The weather suddenly turned bad during the work, with loud thunder rumbling in the sky. Soon after, lightning struck the farmer directly, killing him on the spot. News of the death sent a wave of grief through his family and the villagers. Police and administrative officials reached the spot after being informed, and after completing the necessary procedures, sent the body for a post mortem examination.
