A wave of panic gripped the Karanwas police station area in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district on Monday night after the bodies of a young man and a girl were discovered along the Maksi-Ruthiyai railway track. The incident came to light around 8 pm near the path leading to Dehri Baman village when local residents spotted the bodies lying beside the railway line and alerted the authorities. Due to intense darkness and difficult terrain, police personnel had to walk on foot for nearly two kilometres to reach the exact spot of the incident.
Identity Confirmed Through Aadhaar Card
Upon reaching the location, the police initiated preliminary procedures and established the identities of the deceased. The deceased youth was identified as Banwari, son of Hariprasad Verma, a resident of Dehri Baman village. The deceased girl was identified as 17-year-old Priya, daughter of Brij Verma, residing in Kudali under the jurisdiction of the Narsinghgarh police station. Both bodies were found lying in close proximity along the rail line. As news of the discovery spread, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the scene. The identity of the girl was verified through an Aadhaar card recovered from her possession, after which the police informed the grieving family members of both individuals.
Couple Was Engaged in May
According to relatives, Banwari and Priya had been formally engaged in May, and their marriage had been arranged. Following the engagement, the two remained in regular contact with each other. Family members also revealed that during August, Banwari had met with a road accident near Mandawar while travelling towards Kudali, sustaining injuries. He had recovered from the accident and resumed his routine work only about five to seven days before this fatal incident took place.
Youth Had Left Farm in the Morning
Banwari's father stated that on Monday morning, the young man had accompanied him to their agricultural field. After tending to the buffaloes and collecting fodder, he left the field at around 9 am, stating that he was heading home to have his meal. The family had no further contact with him until approximately 8 pm when the police notified them about the discovery of his body. Officials are actively investigating whether the duo was struck by a passing train or if the deaths occurred under different circumstances. The exact timeline and sequence of events are expected to become clear once the post-mortem results are released.
Police Examine Circumstances and Angles
Karanwas police station in-charge Sangeeta Sharma stated that the police have taken custody of both bodies and registered an initial inquiry under the relevant provisions. She indicated that prima facie, the matter appears linked to a love affair. However, the precise circumstances under which the deaths occurred will only be confirmed following the receipt of the post-mortem examination report and further investigation. Law enforcement authorities have commenced a thorough inquiry covering all potential aspects of the case.
