Expressing support for this exclusion during a public program in Bhopal, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and legislator Rameshwar Sharma made comments regarding women from the minority community that quickly triggered widespread public indignation and political outrage.

The opposition Congress party reacted swiftly to the statements, demanding immediate accountability. Congress legislator Arif Masood launched a sharp attack, asserting that Rameshwar Sharma regularly engages in generating social friction and division. Arif Masood stated that the rhetoric crossed all boundaries of decency and civility, warning that there is still time for the lawmaker to mend his ways before corrective steps are forced upon him. The escalating war of words rapidly turned the festive atmosphere into a charged political showdown across the state capital.
Defense Cites Religious Sanctity and Triggers Fresh Exchanges
As criticism intensified, Rameshwar Sharma attempted to clarify his position, claiming that his remarks had been misrepresented by political opponents. Shifting his defense to religious practices, he asserted that Garba grounds are dedicated places of Hindu worship and questioned why individuals who do not practice idol worship insist on attending them. He added that if someone is genuinely devoted to Garba and Hindu traditions, they should convert their religion and participate freely. Rameshwar Sharma further escalated the confrontation by warning Arif Masood that if pushed further, Masood would not find anywhere to hide in Bhopal. Notably, this came just two days after Sharma had to walk back another provocative statement concerning launching a missile at Qazi Chowk.

The political turbulence in the state was not confined to the Garba entry controversy alone. Kailash Vijayvargiya, a minister in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's cabinet, also found himself compelled to issue an apology following a speech in Indore. While addressing a gathering to inaugurate urban development initiatives and reviewing ward-level civic difficulties, Kailash Vijayvargiya directed a personal remark toward Sandhya Yadav, the party corporator representing Ward 6, who was seated alongside other dignitaries on the dais. The comment quickly drew widespread scrutiny and embarrassment.

Taking strong exception to the minister's phrasing, Congress leader Shobha Ojha described the incident as undeniable proof of how ruling party leaders view women, alleging that derogatory language toward women has become habitual among them. Facing escalating backlash, Kailash Vijayvargiya issued a clarification accompanied by an apology, stating that Sandhya Yadav is like a daughter to him and that his remarks were uttered in jest without any malicious intent. Shortly thereafter, corporator Sandhya Yadav issued a statement affirming that the minister holds the stature of a father figure to her, emphasizing that the comment was meant purely as light humor and was being politicized unnecessarily.
