Government is fully committed to protecting OBC interests, says CM Mohan Yadav after meeting delegation

A delegation of the OBC Mahasabha met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, following which the state government filed an SLP in the Supreme Court.

A delegation of the OBC Mahasabha met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday morning at the Samatva Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister. During the interaction, the Chief Minister emphasized that the issue of reservation for other backward classes in the state is extremely important, and the state government remains fully committed to safeguarding OBC interests. He noted that every possible effort is being made to establish a fair and logical framework. With this objective in mind, an all-party meeting was previously convened on the OBC reservation matter, and consultations were held with all prominent OBC organizations to present a robust case before the honorable court.

The Chief Minister further stated that the administration is working to find an appropriate resolution to the matter rather than attempting to delay it. He underscored that the policy and intent of the state government regarding reservation for other backward classes are completely transparent. He informed the delegation that a point-by-point study of the honorable court's ruling on OBC reservation has been completed, and directives have already been issued to strongly represent the state's stance before the Supreme Court. In line with this directive, the Advocate General's Office of Madhya Pradesh filed an SLP, titled State of M.P. versus Ashita Dubey and Others, in the Supreme Court on Friday evening.

Every party remembers OBC reservation right before elections. The CM has filed an SLP in the Supreme Court, but people are now catching on to the endless cycle of court dates.

Arjun, you are spot on. When I visited Bhopal last time, a friend there also mentioned how these cases always seem to drag on during election season.

Standing outside the High Court last year, the tension on the faces of lawyers and students came rushing back to me when I read about this Supreme Court move. Hopefully, the youth will finally get some relief from these endless court battles.

Karan, you're right, that tension was so clear on everyone's faces back then. Hopefully, this Supreme Court move finally brings some relief.
