Madhya Pradesh is witnessing widespread monsoon rain, and the weather department's forecast for July 3, 2026 brings both relief from heat and humidity and a fresh warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several districts. The Meteorological Centre in Bhopal has issued red, orange and yellow alerts across different parts of the state and has urged residents to stay cautious.
Red alert in Harda and Khandwa as rivers and drains may swell
The biggest risk has been flagged in Harda and Khandwa districts, which are under a red alert. Both districts could receive more than 204.5 mm of rainfall. Such intense rain raises the risk of waterlogging in low-lying areas and rivers and drains overflowing. The weather department has asked residents in these areas to stay especially alert.
Orange alert for six districts, gusty winds likely
Besides the red alert, an orange alert has been issued for Dhar, Burhanpur, Khargone, Betul, Barwani and Dewas districts. These areas could see extremely heavy rain along with gusty winds. According to the department, rainfall in these six districts could range from 115.6 mm to 204.5 mm. People here have been advised to keep track of changing weather conditions and stay prepared for any emergency.
Yellow alert for 37 districts, winds up to 40-50 km/h expected
For the rest of the state, the weather department has issued a yellow alert covering Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Agar, Bhind, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Datia, Morena, Satna, Sheopur Kalan, Shahdol, Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Anuppur, Maunganj, Umaria, Dindori, Seoni, Vidisha, Panna, Damoh, Rajgarh, Raisen, Shajapur, Mandla, Katni, Balaghat, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Niwari, Tikamgarh and Maihar districts.
