A 13-year-old minor girl who left her home in Borivali, Mumbai, without informing anyone has been safely recovered from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, following an intensive three-day search operation by the police. The most emotional and astonishing aspect of this case was when a Mumbai police officer searching for the child offered prayers to Lord Krishna at a temple, only to find the girl standing right next to him moments later.
Minor left home without informing anyone
Borivali Police Senior PI Pushpalata Mandale stated that the girl left her Goregaon residence on August 22 without telling anyone. Following a complaint from her family, the Borivali Police initiated a search operation. During the investigation, police analyzed clues linked to the mobile phones of both the girl and her mother, alongside thoroughly checking various CCTV footage feeds.
Traveled to Mathura by train and visited temples
The investigation revealed that the girl took an auto-rickshaw to the Borivali railway station and boarded the Golden Temple Mail train bound for Mathura. Upon arriving in Mathura, she headed straight toward religious sites associated with Lord Krishna and Radha.
Police team exhausted from extensive searches
The police team conducted massive search operations across Mathura and surrounding areas. The team searched Vrindavan, Nidhivan, various river ghats, Barsana, and other prominent religious locations. After three continuous days of searching, the police officers were physically exhausted.
Girl reappeared right after officer's prayer
During the search, the officer stopped at a temple and prayed to Lord Krishna for assistance in locating the girl. After finishing the prayer and opening his eyes, he saw the exact 13-year-old girl the police had been hunting for the past three days standing directly in front of him. The police took the child into their safe custody and later brought her back to Mumbai via train. The family breathed a sigh of relief after the safe recovery of the girl.
Search spanned Mathura and surrounding areas
The Mumbai police team scoured Mathura alongside Vrindavan, Nidhivan, Barsana, and other religious destinations. They checked temples, ashrams, dharamshalas, ghats, railway tracks, and reviewed CCTV recordings. Police also gathered information from devotees, volunteers, and locals.
PSI Surendra Lokhande prayed before deity
According to PSI Surendra Lokhande, despite three days of relentless searching, no concrete lead about the girl had emerged. The search operation had grown increasingly challenging due to heavy crowds of devotees. Police noted that on September 1, while searching, PSI Lokhande visited the Radha Rani Temple in Barsana. He explained that he joined his hands before the idol of Lord Krishna and prayed for divine assistance in finding the girl.
Girl found standing nearby upon opening eyes
According to Lokhande, moments after he finished praying, opened his eyes, and looked around, the girl was standing right beside him. Initially, he could not believe his eyes. He matched her appearance with the photograph stored on his mobile phone and then called out her name to confirm her identity.
Concluding the Mumbai search operation
According to the police officer, the girl asked him how he knew her identity. The team then took her into confidence, explaining that they had come from the Borivali Police Station to take her back home. Through these efforts, the Mumbai police successfully concluded the missing person case. A report released a few months prior indicated that in the year 2025, a total of 2,182 children went missing in Mumbai, out of whom 2,165 were safely reunited with their families.
