Maharashtra BJP state president Ravindra Chavan has accused the Congress party of practicing convenience politics and maintaining double standards in public life. Sharing an address delivered by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media, Chavan mounted an aggressive attack against the principal opposition party and Rahul Gandhi. He argued that shifting stances according to political convenience has become the core governing style of Congress leadership across the country.
Coalition Dominance and Questioning Electoral Narratives
In his social media remarks, Ravindra Chavan pointed out that in several Indian states, Congress has been unable to produce a Chief Minister of its own for over 40 consecutive years. During these extended decades, governments in those regions functioned under the leadership of regional allies rather than Congress itself. Chavan questioned why leaders who frequently allege electoral manipulation and vote theft refuse to acknowledge their prolonged organizational decay, noting that criticizing others under such circumstances is an attempt to deflect accountability.
Chavan reiterated that Congress leadership avoids discussing its structural decline while aggressively raising allegations after electoral setbacks. By pointing out the decades-long absence of Congress chief executives across vital territories, he argued that the party has consistently relied on regional partners to remain in power while failing to secure independent mandates from voters.
Amit Shah Addresses BJP Legislators in West Bengal
The political exchange gained momentum following remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting of the BJP legislative party in West Bengal. Addressing party lawmakers in Kolkata, Shah reviewed the organizational footprint of Congress across different parts of India, underscoring how deeply its footprint has shrunk over recent decades.
Amit Shah advised the opposition party to undertake serious introspection after continuous electoral defeats rather than seeking external excuses. He directly scrutinized Rahul Gandhi's leadership, observing that ever since he assumed leadership responsibilities, the electorate across multiple states has repeatedly delivered clear mandates rejecting the party's agenda and governance promises.
Scrutiny Over Opposition Alliance Cohesion
The Home Minister also evaluated the stability of the wider opposition grouping, the ‘INDIA’ bloc, asserting that the alliance is once again disintegrating under the current leadership structure. Through these observations, the party sought to cast doubt on both the durability of collective opposition efforts and the national viability of Congress. By circulating these arguments, Ravindra Chavan signaled an escalating political confrontation between the ruling party and Congress over electoral accountability and leadership credibility.
