A tragic incident has emerged from Naringi village in Virar West, Maharashtra, where a 28 year old woman lost her life after being pushed onto the floor by her 60 year old father in law during a family dispute. The violent confrontation occurred over the issue of taking an 8 month old infant girl to her maternal home. The deceased has been identified as Prachi Kalpesh Patil (28), while the accused father in law has been identified as Ganpat Sakharam Patil (60). Following the incident, local law enforcement authorities took swift action, arresting the accused and registering a criminal case charging him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Dispute Triggers Over Taking 8 Month Old Baby
According to details confirmed by the police, the incident took place at around 8:45 AM on Thursday inside a house located opposite the Ekvira Temple in the Bhagat Ali locality of Naringi village. The deceased woman's 33 year old brother, Vishal Anant Patil, had arrived at her marital residence to accompany his sister Prachi back to their parents' house. Prachi intended to bring her 8 month old infant daughter along for the visit. At that moment, the baby was resting on the shoulder of her grandfather, Ganpat Sakharam Patil. When Prachi stepped forward to collect her child, her father in law firmly refused to hand the baby over. This refusal led to an immediate argument between Prachi and Ganpat, which quickly escalated into a heated altercation.
Severe Fall onto the Floor and Fatal Internal Injuries
During the ongoing quarrel, the accused Ganpat Patil forcefully shoved Prachi. The impact caused the 28 year old woman to lose her balance and crash heavily onto the hard floor, resulting in severe head trauma. Family members immediately rushed the injured victim to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention. However, despite medical intervention, Prachi succumbed to her internal head injuries while undergoing treatment. Her brother, Vishal Patil, later stated that long standing domestic friction had persisted between Ganpat Patil and Prachi, alleging that the father in law frequently subjected her to verbal abuse and intimidation.
Police Investigation and Charges Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Following the victim's death, her brother Vishal Anant Patil lodged a formal complaint at the Bolinj police station. Based on his statement, officers registered a case against Ganpat Sakharam Patil under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police subsequently took Ganpat Patil into custody. Senior Police Inspector Prakash Kawale of the Bolinj police station confirmed the arrest, stating that the accused will be produced before the Vasai Sessions Court as ongoing investigations proceed. The sudden tragedy has sent shockwaves across the entire Naringi village neighborhood.
