An 81-year-old resident of Mira Road in Mumbai has turned to his childhood schoolmate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for help in resolving a grueling land dispute that has dragged on for three and a half decades. Asgar Ali Vohra, who attended school with the Prime Minister, has requested a CBI investigation into the matter, hoping that this decades-old connection will finally bring an end to his long struggle for justice.

Vohra and Prime Minister Modi were classmates at the BN School in Vadnagar, Gujarat. On September 8, Vohra met with the Prime Minister to discuss his grievances. Following what he described as a positive and encouraging response from his former classmate, Vohra expressed renewed optimism that his protracted legal and administrative battle might finally find a resolution and end the years of mental agony.
A 35-Year-Old Legal and Administrative Struggle
The root of the conflict dates back 35 years. In 1989, Vohra purchased a plot of land measuring approximately 2,810 square meters in the Navghar area of Bhayandar East, located within the Mira Road locality. While Vohra maintains that he held undisputed possession of this property for several years, the situation took a drastic turn in 2011. He alleges that two real estate entities, Swayam Builders and Seven Eleven Constructions, unlawfully took control of his land.
Allegations of Forged Documentation and Land Grabbing
Beyond the physical occupation of the property, Vohra has raised serious allegations regarding the manipulation of ownership records. He claims that fraudulent documents were manufactured to usurp his property without his knowledge or consent. According to his allegations, the plot was split into two distinct portions, with ownership records falsified to reflect the possession of the two builder firms. To counter this, Vohra has spent years petitioning various government departments and regulatory authorities, trying to expose the alleged fraud.
Sluggish Legal Battles and the Direct Escalation
Although a formal FIR was registered regarding the dispute in 2015, the legal proceedings have moved at a sluggish pace, remaining pending in court for years. Vohra states that he repeatedly approached the revenue department, local municipal corporation, and police officials in search of a remedy, but his efforts yielded no concrete results. This continuous delay prompted him to seek a direct intervention from Prime Minister Modi.
