Teenagers and young adults across Garo Hills are being handed a direct route to a national stage. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, working through its Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) platform, is rolling out the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027 across the region's five districts.
Who can take part and why it matters
The push is meant to pull young people directly into shaping the government's Viksit Bharat @2047 vision, giving them a formal channel to pitch ideas and solutions rather than leaving policy conversations to officials alone. Anyone who is between 15 and 29 years old on August 17, 2026, and lives in North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, East Garo Hills or West Garo Hills can take part.
Six different routes to the top
Participants can choose from six distinct tracks built around different skills: the Viksit Bharat Challenge, a Cultural Track, Design for Bharat, then Hack for Social Cause, the Youth Entrepreneurs Challenge and a Youth Parliament. Between them, the tracks span innovation, technology, business building, cultural expression, policy thinking and hands-on democratic participation, so a coder, a folk dancer and an aspiring entrepreneur could all find an entry point.
How the flagship challenge unfolds
The centrepiece Viksit Bharat Challenge runs in stages. Entrants first sit an online quiz, then write a 500-word essay, before moving to presentations judged at the district level. Only the top two performers from each of the five Garo Hills districts advance to the State-level edition, and the strongest of those go on to represent the region at the National Dialogue.
A stage for folk art too
Those with cultural rather than policy leanings get their own track. The Cultural Track opens the door for painting, poetry writing, declamation, folk song and folk dance, letting entrants carry Garo Hills' artistic traditions all the way to the State and National rounds alongside the more research-heavy tracks.
Key dates to watch
The timeline runs in stages. The Viksit Bharat Quiz stays open until September 30, and the Essay Challenge then takes over from October 5 to 19. District Championships fall between November 10 and 16, while the State-level VBYLD stretches over a longer window, from November 17 to December 7. The final leg, the National VBYLD, will take place in the capital, New Delhi, between January 10 and 12, 2027.
Signing up
All applications and related digital activity are being handled through the MY Bharat portal, and anyone already registered there does not need to sign up a second time. MY Bharat has called on eligible young people across every one of the five Garo Hills districts to come forward and put their ideas and talent behind the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
