The mandatory deadline for completing the Aadhaar-based e-KYC process for domestic liquefied petroleum gas consumers has been extended once again. Consumers now have until September 14 to complete this requirement. This marks the fifth extension granted for the e-KYC process. Prior to this, the deadline was set for September 7. Earlier deadlines in August included August 16, August 23, and August 31.
Official Updates and Compliance Status
Confirming the one-week extension, a senior official from one of the three oil marketing companies stated that approximately 88 percent of Telangana's 1.26 crore LPG consumers have successfully completed the verification process. This ensures they maintain continuous access to refills at domestic rates. However, reports indicate that the pricing for cylinders supplied to customers who fail to complete their e-KYC remains undecided by the government, as the primary focus currently stays on maximizing overall compliance.
Coverage Challenges and Multiple Connections
Sources also pointed out that the e-KYC initiative, designed to ensure that subsidies reach only intended recipients, is unlikely to achieve 100 percent coverage. Many individuals who have yet to comply are believed to hold multiple connections under their own names or utilize connections registered under someone else's name.
Potential Impacts and Booking Rule Changes
Initial reports suggested that missing the e-KYC deadline could lead to temporary suspension of LPG connections or require users to pay commercial rates. While definitive clarity on these specific punitive measures is still pending, known impacts include temporary disruptions for Indane Gas, HP Gas, and Bharat Gas customers until full compliance is achieved. In a separate policy update, the Oil Ministry has directed oil marketing companies to shorten the LPG booking interval from 45 days to 25 days specifically for rural area customers, while the 25-day refill interval for urban customers remains unchanged.
How to Complete Indane Gas E-KYC
Consumers can complete their e-KYC from the comfort of their homes. For Indane Gas users, the process involves downloading the IndianOil One App and the AadhaarFaceRD App. After downloading, open the IndianOil One app and sign up using a registered mobile number and email address. Link the 16-digit LPG ID found on cash memos or subscription vouchers to display consumer details. Navigate to the home screen, tap on My Profile, review the LPG details, and select re-KYC. Read the instructions carefully, provide consent, check the box on the Face Authentication Advisories page, and tap the Face Scan button to finish the biometric verification.
How to Complete Bharat Gas E-KYC
Bharat Gas customers need to download the Hello BPCL App. Open the application after downloading and complete the registration. Find the e-KYC option on the homepage and tap on it. The app will direct users to an OTP verification page where a six-digit code sent to the registered mobile number must be entered. Once verified, read through the terms and conditions, provide consent, and click proceed to finish the procedure.
How to Complete HP Gas E-KYC
HP Gas users can download the HP Pay App alongside the AadhaarFaceRD App. Open the HP Pay app, tap register, and enter the mobile number linked to the HP Gas account. Input the received OTP for verification. Set up a 4-digit MPIN for easier future access. Log into the app using the MPIN, allow location access, and head to the MY HP section to select LPG. Locate the e-KYC option, read the terms and conditions, give consent, and select the Capture Face option. The AadhaarFaceRD app will open to scan the face, allowing users to complete the biometric verification by following the onscreen prompts.
