A sudden state of high alert gripped the Ahmedabad airport on Monday evening after an Air India flight operating from Dammam to Delhi received a serious bomb threat. The unexpected security scare forced the flight to be diverted mid-air to Ahmedabad for a safe landing. At the time of the incident, there were a total of 32 passengers on board the aircraft. Fortunately, the pilot managed to land the plane safely at the Sardar Vल्लभभाई Patel International Airport, and all passengers were successfully evacuated without any harm.
Discovery Of The Threat Note In The Lavatory
According to flight details, after the aircraft took off, a crew member noticed a paper slip lying inside the airplane toilet. The word 'BOMB' was scribbled in English on this slip. Upon spotting the note, the flight crew immediately alerted the pilot and the relevant security agencies about the alarming discovery. Recognizing the gravity of the potential threat, a decision was quickly made to direct the aircraft to the nearest suitable airport located in Ahmedabad.
Emergency Protocols And Safe Disembarkation
The flight touched down safely at the Ahmedabad airport at approximately 4:21 PM. Immediately following the landing, air traffic control instructed the ground crew to guide the aircraft away from the main terminal to an isolated bay. Concurrently, standard emergency protocols were activated across the airport premises. All 32 passengers were disembarked under heavy security escort and directed straight to Terminal 2, where they were kept under the strict watch of security personnel away from the aircraft and operational zones.
Comprehensive Security Search And Forensic Checks
Meanwhile, bomb disposal squads, local police, and central security agencies rushed to the airport to launch a thorough inspection. Security teams began an intensive search covering the aircraft cabin, the cargo hold, and all other compartments of the plane. Sniffer dogs and forensic investigation teams were also deployed to assist in examining every inch of the aircraft for any potential explosives or hazards.
Ongoing Investigation Into The Source Of The Note
Investigative agencies are currently working hard to determine who placed the note bearing the word 'BOMB' inside the aircraft lavatory. As part of the inquiry, every passenger aboard the flight is being questioned thoroughly. Investigators are also collecting handwriting and signature samples from the passengers to cross-check them against the writing on the recovered slip to identify the culprit.
At present, the aircraft remains parked in the isolated bay as security agencies continue their comprehensive probe. Officials have not yet officially confirmed whether the threat was genuine or merely an attempt to spread panic through a false rumor. The exact nature of the incident will only become clear once the ongoing security investigation reaches its conclusion.
