With heads of state and foreign delegations set to arrive for the high-profile gathering, the Delhi International Airport Limited has significantly boosted terminal capacity to ensure seamless passenger movement and flight operations.
Expanding International Operations at Terminal 3
To effectively manage rising international air traffic, Pier C within Terminal 3 has been specially prepared for global flight operations. The facility is being operationalized in a phased manner starting on the night of September 9. Initially, arriving passengers from overseas will be handled at this location, followed by full-fledged arrivals and departures beginning on the evening of September 10. Previously utilized for domestic flights, the reconfiguration of Pier C provides Terminal 3 with expanded space for managing wide-body aircraft. Once fully active, this upgrade will boost the airport's international passenger handling capacity by approximately 50 percent.
Special Arrangements for Global Dignitaries
The influx of global dignitaries visiting the capital for the summit has necessitated dedicated arrangements across the aviation hub. Dedicated immigration counters have been established for foreign delegates to eliminate long waiting queues and facilitate fast-track clearance. Additional parking bays and time slots have been reserved to accommodate chartered and special aircraft safely. Furthermore, the airport operator has established real-time coordination with security agencies, airlines, ground handlers, immigration, and customs to maintain rigorous security and operational efficiency. Ground teams remain on high alert around the clock to welcome international delegations.
