The Delhi Police has submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court regarding the violent turns taken during a protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy. According to the document filed in the top court, a massive crowd of 30,000 gathered at Jantar Mantar and gradually turned uncontrollable, compelling law enforcement personnel to step in and restore order.
Key Revelations Made in Supreme Court Affidavit
In its sworn submission, the Delhi Police highlighted that nearly 2,873 individuals participating in the demonstration faced serious criminal charges, including allegations of murder and rape. Police officials stated that aggressive groups within the gathering breached security barricades in multiple locations and clashed directly with personnel on duty, leaving several officers injured.
Clarification on Force and Allegations
Rejecting allegations of illegal or excessive force, law enforcement authorities clarified that necessary measures were applied solely to restrict escalating violence. The police firmly denied rumors claiming the use of nail-studded batons on demonstrators. Furthermore, the submission noted that while violence erupted on the streets, organizers situated behind the main stage remained passive spectators instead of urging the crowd to disperse peacefully.
