Commuters travelling on one of the busiest corridors of the Delhi Metro network need to plan their journeys with extra time. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated a comprehensive overhauling and repair drive for escalators across six key stations along the Yellow Line. This maintenance initiative aims to boost commuter safety and streamline the flow of passenger traffic within station premises.
Stations Affected by the Escalator Maintenance
According to details provided by DMRC, the maintenance work covers six strategically located stops along the route. The affected locations include Arjan Garh station, along with five major stations in Haryana's Gurugram hub: Guru Dronacharya, Sikanderpur, MG Road, IFFCO Chowk, and Millennium City Centre Gurugram. Given the high daily footfall at these transit points, upgrading the moving staircases has been designated a top operational priority.
Work Distribution and Alternate Transit Guidelines
The scope of repair varies depending on the layout of each individual station. At Arjan Garh station, the escalator connecting the concourse level to the platform has been temporarily shut down for overhaul. Meanwhile, at Guru Dronacharya, Sikanderpur, MG Road, IFFCO Chowk, and Millennium City Centre Gurugram stations, repair teams are working on the escalators that transport passengers from the ground floor up to the concourse. To prevent potential safety hazards while escalators are undergoing work, DMRC has advised passengers to utilize the available elevators and follow all instructions issued by metro ground staff. The transit corporation has not provided a specific completion timeline for this maintenance schedule.
