A Shocking Glitch in Admit Card Allocation
The administrative operations of the National Testing Agency came under intense scrutiny following a massive error in the arrangements for the upcoming NEET UG re-examination. A candidate residing in Nagpur discovered that his assigned test venue was located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, instead of his hometown. This major discrepancy has cast doubts on the efficiency of the nationwide testing systems managed by NTA.
The candidate, identified as Abdullah Mohammad Talib, and his family were left completely astonished upon downloading the admit card for the re-exam, which is scheduled to take place on 21 June in a single shift across India. Finding an international location on his document caused immediate distress. The family revealed that they do not possess passports and lack the financial capability or immediate arrangements to travel abroad. The situation created a highly stressful environment for the student just days before his exam.
Opposition Leaders Lambast the Exam Authority
The incident quickly caught the attention of prominent political figures, who condemned the testing body for its lack of professionalism. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, took to the social media platform X to express his outrage over the administrative failure. He highlighted that the student, who had spent the last month preparing diligently, was pushed into deep mental trauma upon learning about his foreign exam center at the last minute.
Rahul Gandhi stated that the student spent the night weeping and was refusing to take the exam altogether. He questioned how such a lapse could occur, emphasizing that no student should face difficulty in reaching their exam venue. He further accused NTA of merely testing the resilience of students and parents. According to him, any system that fails to provide an exam center within a student's own city, and instead sends them overseas, has lost the authority to manage national examinations.
Reflecting on his previous interactions in Kota, Rahul Gandhi remarked that the education sector has stopped functioning as a system of learning and has instead turned into a mechanism for extracting money, time, and mental peace from an entire generation. He urged the authorities to stop playing with the future of children, asserting that students deserve a sensitive, responsible, and accountable education system.
Additionally, Punjab Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring raised concerns on X, pointing out that what NTA labels a simple technical error actually compromises years of hard work, mental peace, and career stability for students. He asserted that Indian candidates deserve a highly professional examination system rather than an administrative structure that relies on excuses whenever controversies arise, adding that accountability cannot be dismissed as a mere technical glitch.
NTA Issues Clarification and Promises Rectification
Following the widespread public criticism and political backlash, NTA acknowledged the error. The testing agency classified the venue mismatch as a technical glitch that occurred within its system and assured the affected candidate that the mistake would be resolved swiftly.
To mitigate the panic, NTA sent an email communication to the family, guaranteeing that the issue would be resolved by the evening. The agency confirmed that a revised admit card would be issued to the student, allocating a suitable examination center within Nagpur itself in a matter of hours.
