A tragic road accident unfolded in Bihar's Jehanabad district, where a speeding truck ran over an agricultural advisor, causing his instantaneous death at the scene. The fatal incident triggered immense chaos across the entire locality, leading to violent protests by angry villagers who subsequently set the involved truck ablaze right at the accident site, disrupting traffic on NH-33.
Details of the Accident and Victim Identification
The mishap took place on NH-33 near Saraswati Morh within the Kako police station jurisdiction. The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Gyanchand Sharma, a resident of Safepur village who was posted as the agricultural advisor for Amthua panchayat under the Kako block agriculture department. According to statements provided by his grieving family members, he was cycling back to his native village carrying vegetables when an out-of-control truck rammed into him from behind.
The impact of the collision was so severe that he was pulled underneath the heavy vehicle and dragged along the asphalt for a considerable distance. The accident disfigured his face to such an extent that immediate identification proved impossible. Later, family members positively identified the body using his clothing and other personal belongings.
Public Outrage and Police Intervention
Following the crash, the truck driver abandoned the heavy vehicle and fled from the scene. As news of the tragedy spread, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the location and vented their fury by torching the truck. Within moments, the vehicle was engulfed in towering flames. Alerted by the escalation, local police forces rushed to the spot and temporarily halted vehicular movement from both directions as a precautionary measure, resulting in massive traffic gridlocks stretching across both sides of the highway.
