President Donald Trump has made a striking claim in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. He wrote that Walmart, one of the biggest retailers in the country, is set to lower prices on a wide range of products at the request of his administration. According to Trump, the move is timed to coincide with the celebration of America's 250th birthday.
How much cheaper will things get at Walmart
Trump said Walmart will specifically cut the price of a pound of ground beef by almost 15 percent, along with reductions across many other products. He described the move as a huge deal for the millions of Americans who shop at Walmart, calling the company a truly patriotic retailer that loves the country.
Trump takes aim at the Biden administration
In the same post, Trump claimed his administration is bringing down prices that had been driven up incompetently during Joe Biden's time, which he called the worst inflation crisis in history. He also pointed to the situation at the Southern Border and the withdrawal from Afghanistan as further examples of what he called failures.
Claims on oil, gas, eggs and prescription drugs
Trump wrote that, just as he had promised, oil prices are falling fast and gas prices at the pump are dropping as well. He claimed egg prices and prescription drug prices are also coming down to historic levels under his administration.
A call to other retailers
Trump closed the post by saying Walmart is stepping up in a big and bold way, and urged other retailers to follow the lead of what he called these absolute patriots. He said that together, the country would become stronger and greater than ever before. The post was signed off as President Donald J. Trump.
