Security arrangements in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province have come under severe scrutiny following a major abduction incident. Armed attackers intercepted a passenger van in the Mastung district and forcefully kidnapped 20 trainee police personnel who were traveling in it. All these officers were heading back to their homes after taking leave from the Kalat Recruit Training Center. The brazen incident has sent shockwaves through the security apparatus and administration, triggering widespread panic in the region.
The Incident Unfolded in Mastung's Gorgina Area
The entire episode took place in the Gorgina area of Mastung. The assailants systematically halted the vehicle carrying the police personnel midway. Holding them at gunpoint, the armed attackers took all the personnel along with them to an undisclosed location. As soon as news of the incident broke out, local authorities and the police department scrambled into action. Senior officials rushed to review the situation and initiated strategic moves to secure the safe recovery of the missing personnel.
Extensive Search Operations and Arson in Turbat
Following this massive kidnapping, security forces have established heavy cordons across multiple key areas of the district. Special checkpoints have been set up at various locations to conduct intensive search operations aimed at tracking down the abducted personnel. Additionally, security has been significantly tightened across neighboring towns and highways. Meanwhile, another incident of violence was reported near Turbat in Balochistan, where armed Baloch separatists set fire to several cargo-laden trucks.
