Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp offensive against opposition parties, including Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, asserting that protests and agitations will yield no results. Inaugurating projects worth 8,941 crore rupees in Delhi aimed at cleaning the Yamuna river, Shah announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party will seek a mandate from the public in 2029 only after successfully cleaning the river.
Criticism Over EVM Allegations and Sewage Management
Targeting Congress and AAP, Shah noted that opposition parties routinely accuse the ruling alliance of tampering with electronic voting machines and stealing votes, despite having remained out of power in several states for decades. Detailing the Yamuna cleaning initiatives, he blamed previous Congress and AAP administrations in Delhi for allowing raw sewage to flow unchecked into the river. He highlighted that the current government has successfully reduced the volume of untreated sewage pouring into the Yamuna.
Political Prospects and Drug Eradication in Punjab
Directly addressing AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Shah claimed that politics centered around excuses will fail to save the party in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections. He stated firmly that the people of Punjab want a government led by the National Democratic Alliance and predicted a complete wipeout of AAP at the polls. Shah further promised that once the NDA forms its government in Punjab, the ongoing menace of drug trafficking plaguing the state will be permanently eradicated.
