Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recounted his political trajectory and involvement in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement during a youth-centric event held in Nagpur. Speaking at the Manthan 4 Yuva program, he engaged with the younger generation to discuss how India's constitutional framework and democratic system empower ordinary individuals to attain high constitutional offices. Citing his own political climb alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he highlighted this mobility as a true testament to the strength of the nation's democracy.
An Early Journey Rooted In Ideology
Reflecting on his entry into public life, the Chief Minister shared that he was initially driven purely by ideological convictions. During those formative years, he believed that the political party he represented had little prospect of coming to power, leading him to assume that his entire political career would be spent sitting in the opposition. Despite anticipating a life of continuous struggle and protests, he persisted every single day, eventually earning the trust of the citizens to rise step by step to the office of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Eighteen Days In Jail At Age Twenty
Recalling the hardships of his political activism, Devendra Fadnavis spoke extensively about the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He noted that he joined the agitation when he was just twenty years old, which resulted in him spending 18 days inside the central jail in Badaun. Tracing his journey, he explained that he traveled to Prayagraj before heading toward Ayodhya, marking his first direct observation of how public speeches and political rhetoric translate into real-world action. He stated that during the course of the movement, he faced gunfire, endured police baton charges, and experienced arrest. Even after being released from prison, he returned directly to the movement.
Pride In The 1992 Demolition
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister made specific mention of the historic events of December 1992. He stated that he was personally present when the Babri Masjid structure was brought down in 1992, adding that he harbors immense pride in that fact. For him, politics has always served as an instrument to bring about meaningful social and economic transformation in society.
Support For Youth And Startup Ecosystems
Concluding his interaction, the Chief Minister assured the youth of comprehensive backing from the administration. He explained that the government has formulated a dedicated policy for the startup ecosystem, accompanied by financial allocations and the establishment of incubation centers. Furthermore, these centers are now undergoing decentralization to ensure broader accessibility for aspiring entrepreneurs.
