India has made its stance on terrorism unequivocally clear to the global community from the platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. During the high-level meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of member states held in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a strong and uncompromising message on the issue of terrorism. A notable aspect of the session was the direct presence of Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, whose country faces persistent international scrutiny and allegations of nurturing and sustaining terrorism.
Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh stated in clear terms that terrorism not only sheds the blood of innocent people but completely shatters the backbone of any nation's economic development, investment inflows, and trade prospects. The Defence Minister emphasized that terrorism injects the dangerous poison of radicalization into society, depriving the younger generation of their fundamental opportunities and a bright future.
Cautioning the global community, he made it clear that no double standards can be tolerated in the ongoing battle against terror, and terrorism can never be justified under any pretext or logic. Rajnath Singh placed a firm demand that strict action must be taken not just against those who pick up arms, but equally against the countries and networks that provide safe havens, financial backing, and systemic support to these perpetrators of violence.
Rajnath Singh asserted that the entire terror infrastructure must be dismantled through strong and collective efforts. This strong statement by Rajnath Singh, delivered right in the presence of the Pakistani Foreign Minister, holds immense significance as India consistently raises the pressing issues of cross-border terror support, safe sanctuaries for militants, and the need for zero-tolerance and non-discriminatory action against terrorism on prominent international platforms.
