Broader Hardships Faced by Disabled Families

In a separate context regarding disabled individuals, recent reports from Odisha highlighted the immense struggles of a family in Ghughhi village under the Banspal block of Keonjhar district. Natabar Juang and his wife Kund Juang have been living under extremely harsh conditions while caring for their three disabled daughters, lacking any agricultural land or regular source of income.

Advanced age has made manual labor nearly impossible for the parents, forcing the family to rely heavily on government assistance and 35 kilograms of free rice. Out of Natabar's five daughters, two are married, while three remain confined to the home due to severe disabilities. Unpaved and muddy village roads further restrict their mobility for education or medical needs. According to the family, they have only received two disabled-friendly vehicles and roughly 20 thousand rupees in financial aid for medical expenses so far.
