Armed violence shook a prominent commercial hub in Ludhiana on Tuesday night as two unidentified assailants barged into a local eatery and executed a rapid gunfire attack. The incident occurred at the Pizza Warm Mexico outlet situated in J Block of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, popular as BRS Nagar. Within a span of merely three seconds, three rounds were discharged inside the premises, causing immediate chaos among staff and customers. The attackers managed to flee the spot on a waiting motorcycle, prompting a multi-angled police investigation involving CCTV analysis and cyber tracking.
CCTV Captures Rapid Three Second Firing
Security camera footage retrieved from the establishment offers a clear timeline of how the attack unfolded. Two young men entered the outlet together, heading straight into the service area. One of the intruders swiftly pulled out a handgun and fired three consecutive shots in quick succession, completing the assault in just three seconds. Concurrently, the second suspect attempted to cock his own firearm to join the shooting, but the weapon jammed or failed to discharge. Realizing the malfunction, both assailants turned around and rushed out to the street, where a third associate was keeping a Hero Splendor motorcycle running for their getaway. The trio sped away into the night before anyone on site could react.
Instagram Post Claims Responsibility and Issues Threat
Shortly after the incident, a post appeared on the social media platform Instagram via an account operating under the handle of the Gopi Lahoria Group. The post explicitly claimed accountability for ordering the shooting at the Pizza Warm Mexico establishment. According to the online text, the gunfire served as a minor warning or trailer executed because previous extortion or phone calls were disregarded by the management. The message further contained open death threats regarding future consequences if their demands continue to be ignored. Following the development, the Cyber Cell of the police department initiated a detailed forensic investigation to track the IP address, digital origin, and physical location of the account creator to verify whether the claim is authentic or a hoax designed to create terror.
Police Action and Regional Security Context
Law enforcement authorities from the Sarabha Nagar police station arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information. During the preliminary inspection of the site, officers secured three empty bullet cartridges fired from the suspect's weapon. A formal First Information Report has been registered against the unidentified suspects under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, dealing with attempted murder, alongside relevant provisions of the Arms Act. While police personnel are actively scrutinizing surveillance footage and digital footprints, senior officials have temporarily abstained from issuing statements to the media to preserve operational secrecy.
This incident has once again brought security concerns in major urban centers of the state into focus. Earlier in June, a strikingly similar gun attack occurred in neighboring Chandigarh. Masked criminals opened reckless fire inside a medical shop located in Sector 11 of Chandigarh. The store's cashier, identified as Janki Das, suffered fatal bullet wounds during that strike and succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a medical facility. CCTV footage from that Chandigarh case had also recorded the sudden brutality of the assault, highlighting a recurring pattern of targeted intimidation against local businesses.
