An extraordinary spiritual practitioner residing in the Pali district of Rajasthan leads a life of such intense austerity that it leaves observers astonished. Located on the outskirts of Bussi village along the Pali-Udaipur mega highway, a modest hut serves as the dwelling place for Sant Tyagi Ji Maharaj. For more than 26 years, he has spent his days here without consuming a single grain of food, dedicating his entire existence entirely to divine devotion rather than observing a temporary fast.
His rigorous lifestyle extends far beyond dietary restrictions into extreme physical endurance. Regardless of whether the weather brings scorching summer heat reaching 45 degrees, freezing winter conditions, or heavy downpours during the rainy season, he maintains his daily routine wearing just a single garment. Even during the night while resting, he avoids using any blankets or sheets for warmth. The entirety of his day is spent inside his hut engaged in continuous prayer and meditation.
For approximately two and a half decades, Tyagi Ji Maharaj has kept away from solid food entirely. His daily sustenance consists solely of two bowls of buttermilk and water. Seasonal extremes fail to alter his strict discipline, as he continues to live in a single piece of clothing without seeking any worldly comforts.
During major occasions such as Guru Purnima, significant crowds gather at his small ashram near Bussi. Devotees travel from various places to catch a glimpse of the saint and receive his blessings. As a unique tradition, visitors receive buttermilk and candies as prasad. Notably, the saint strictly refuses to accept any monetary donations or offerings from anyone who visits him.
In an era where sprawling ashrams and material luxuries have become commonplace, Tyagi Ji Maharaj chooses to live in a very simple and small hut despite his immense spiritual stature. His defining characteristic remains his refusal to accept any form of financial contributions or gifts from followers, offering only selfless blessings to everyone who approaches him without any expectation of reward.
Far removed from the pursuit of material comforts, the austere life of Tyagi Ji Maharaj serves as a powerful center of inspiration and deep faith for society. Free from worldly attachments and immersed entirely in continuous devotion, this saint exemplifies a spiritual height where inner strength triumphs over bodily demands.
