A minor argument on the road over giving passage in the Alwar district of Rajasthan escalated into a violent clash. Panic broke out in Beharipur village within the jurisdiction of the Ramgarh-adjacent Naugaon police station area when a family travelling to attend a funeral was surrounded and attacked with batons and sticks by a mob of over 50 people. The sudden assault left two real brothers severely injured, who were rushed to a local hospital before being referred to the district headquarters due to their critical condition.
Family Heading to Attend a Funeral
Khurshid Khan, a resident of Khohda Karmali, detailed the incident, explaining that an elderly female relative had passed away, prompting family members to travel towards Tikri village to perform final funeral rites and burial customs. The family members were commuting inside a vehicle. As their car reached Beharipur village, they faced difficulty navigating the road due to a large pothole, forcing the driver to maneuver carefully.
Dispute Erupts Over Pothole and Right of Way
The driver, Unnas, son of Kamru, attempted to steer the vehicle around the pothole to avoid damage. At that exact moment, a motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction parked his bike directly in front of their vehicle, blocking their path entirely. This triggered a verbal altercation between the two sides. It has been alleged that the motorcyclist immediately made a phone call and summoned his associates to the spot.
Mob of Over Fifty People Assaults the Brothers
According to Khurshid Khan, within a few moments, more than fifty individuals equipped with heavy wooden sticks and batons arrived at the scene. The attackers rushed toward Unnas, who was driving the car, and began beating him ruthlessly. Before the family could comprehend the sudden violence, Unnas's real brother, Mausam, arrived shortly after on a separate motorcycle. Seeing his brother surrounded by attackers, he rushed forward to intervene and save him, but the mob targeted him as well, subjecting both brothers to a brutal thrashing.
Police Shift Injured to Hospital
Upon receiving information about the violent confrontation, the Naugaon police station team reached the location swiftly. The police took charge of the situation and shifted both injured brothers to the Naugaon hospital for medical attention. Although doctors administered initial first aid, the severity of their injuries prompted medical staff to refer them immediately to Alwar for advanced treatment.
Pending Complaints and Tension in the Village
The aftermath of the violent episode has left the village tense, with locals discussing the sudden assault with apprehension. Authorities noted that the victims' side has not yet filed a formal written police complaint regarding the incident. Police officials stated that legal action and formal registration of an FIR will proceed as soon as a formal complaint is submitted by the affected family.
