Preparations are in full swing at the historic Shila Mata temple situated within the iconic Amer Fort complex in Jaipur ahead of the Shardiya Navratri celebrations. Dedicated administrative and security measures are being put in place to manage the thousands of devotees arriving from across Rajasthan and neighboring regions throughout the nine auspicious days. Temple authorities, in coordination with the local administration, have structured an orderly schedule to ensure smooth access and maintain safety across the heritage site.
Ghatasthapana Timings and Entry for Devotees
The sacred nine-day festivities will commence with traditional rituals on the inaugural day. Banwari Lal Sharma, chief priest of the Shila Mata temple, stated that the ceremonial Ghatasthapana will take place on October 11 at 11:55 AM amid Vedic chants.
Following the completion of the sanctification rites, the doors of the sanctum sanctorum will open for general public viewing at 1:00 PM. Anticipating large turnouts from day one, administrators have issued specific movement guidelines and organized barricaded queues to manage the flow of visitors efficiently.
Chhath Fair, Nisha Pujan, and Purnahuti Schedule
The Navratri calendar at Amer features several key religious milestones throughout the week. On October 16, the temple grounds will host the grand Chhath fair, drawing devotees in large numbers from Jaipur and adjacent districts.
The spiritually significant Nisha Pujan is scheduled for the night of October 18 at 10:00 PM, adhering to traditional tantric and Vedic customs. Subsequently, on the auspicious occasion of Ashtami, the concluding Purnahuti ceremony will take place on October 19 at 4:30 PM.
Temple officials have also clarified the daily viewing hiatus, noting that the sanctum doors will remain closed from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Visitors will not be permitted entry during this afternoon break, with regular darshan resuming promptly at 4:00 PM under established queue systems.
Traffic Management and Security Deployments at Jaleb Chowk
With massive footfalls anticipated daily, the Jaipur police administration has mobilized heavy security deployments across the Amer Fort premises and Jaleb Chowk. Supplementary police personnel along with Home Guard units will patrol key sensitive zones, complemented by continuous monitoring via closed-circuit television cameras.
Given the distinctive hilly geography and narrow access lanes surrounding Amer, sudden influxes of vehicles and pedestrian crowds often trigger severe bottlenecks. Traffic units are implementing designated detour routes and installing barricades to streamline transit. Authorities have appealed to all visiting pilgrims to maintain discipline, cooperate with security officials, and adhere to queuing rules throughout their visit.
