Three masked, armed men stormed into the house of GST department Assistant Commissioner Omprakash in Rajasthan's Alwar district, held his entire family hostage at gunpoint and fled with nearly 20 tola of gold jewellery. The broad-daylight robbery took place at the Shalimar residential society near Double Fatak, under the jurisdiction of Alwar's Sadar police station, in the morning hours. The locality is considered a VIP zone, home to several government officials, yet the attackers carried out the heist without any fear of being caught, raising serious questions about security in the area.
Armed men hid on the rooftop, struck the moment the door opened
According to family members, the robbers had planned the attack well in advance. The three men climbed onto the roof of Assistant Commissioner Omprakash's house and hid there, waiting for someone inside to open the door. The moment family members opened the main door in the morning, the men climbed down from the roof and barged into the house brandishing a pistol and a country-made firearm. Once inside, they took the Assistant Commissioner, his wife and their children at gunpoint and kept the entire family hostage for nearly an hour and a half. During this time, the attackers also beat the family members brutally, leaving the household in a state of terror.
Gold stripped off the wife, cupboard keys snatched for 20 tola of jewellery
After taking the family hostage, the robbers began looting the house at gunpoint. They first forced the Assistant Commissioner's wife to remove all the gold jewellery she was wearing on her body. The men then snatched the keys to the household cupboards and took away nearly 20 tola of gold ornaments kept inside, along with a large sum of cash and other valuables. Once they had ransacked the house, the attackers threatened to kill the family if anyone raised an alarm, and then fled the scene with ease.
