A 41-year-old Indian Army Havildar posted in Fazilka, Punjab, passed away suddenly after suffering a suspected heart attack at his ancestral home in Barmer district, Rajasthan. Mahendra Kumar had recently completed a re-settlement training course in Jaipur and arrived at his village on Friday to spend time with his family. However, shortly after having dinner, his health deteriorated rapidly due to acute chest pain, leading to his unfortunate demise.
Sudden Deterioration After Dinner
Mahendra Kumar, son of Rama Ram and a resident of Beriwala Sagna village in the Ramsar Kuan area of Barmer, had joined the Jat Regiment of the Indian Army in January 2003. Having spent over two decades in military service, he was currently stationed in Fazilka, Punjab. After finishing his training program in Jaipur, he took leave to visit his parents and family members. According to family members, around 9:30 PM on Friday evening, he experienced severe pain in his chest shortly after finishing his meal. As his condition worsened quickly, his family rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Initial medical assessments indicate that a massive heart attack was the likely cause of death.
Funeral to be Conducted with Military Honors
The tragic news has left his family devastated and plunged the entire village into mourning. Upon receiving information about the incident, officers and jawans from the Jat Regiment arrived at the hospital mortuary to review the details. Following a formal report submitted by the family, local police registered a case of unnatural death (marg) and completed the required post-mortem procedures before handing over the mortal remains. The body of Havildar Mahendra Kumar was transported to his native village in a designated army vehicle, where he will be given a formal guard of honor and laid to rest with full military rites. He was scheduled to retire from service in January 2027, making his sudden departure all the more heartbreaking for his loved ones and colleagues.
