Political maneuvering has intensified across rural Rajasthan as preparations gather pace for the 2026 Panchayati Raj elections. With the official election schedule announced, major political parties have started mobilizing their ground machinery down to the village level. As part of this push, the Bharatiya Janata Party has officially appointed district election in-charges across 42 districts in the state. This strategic deployment follows explicit directives from state party president Madan Rathore, aiming to reinforce grassroots coordination well ahead of polling day.
Mobilizing the Grassroots Apparatus Across Districts
Because panchayat polls operate at the village and panchayat levels, organizational cohesion across district units plays a critical role in determining electoral outcomes. The newly deputed election in-charges are tasked with stepping into their designated territories to establish close synergy with local party cadres. Their primary mandate involves steering district-level preparations, overseeing organizational planning, and ensuring that strategic directives are executed methodically across rural constituencies.
Experienced Hands and Senior Leaders Entrusted with Key Roles
To steer these district assignments, the party has banked heavily on experienced veterans from various affiliated wings and civic bodies. The roster of in-charges includes former municipal council heads such as the former chairman of Fatehpur Municipality and the former president of Dungarpur Municipal Council, alongside a former Suratgarh MLA who also served as a former district president. Organizational depth has been further leveraged by assigning roles to a former deputy mayor of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, former state secretaries of the Kisan Morcha, a former state president of the Mahila Morcha, and a national vice president of the Mahila Morcha. Leadership representation also features the chairman of the Shri Vishwakarma Development Board, the chairman of the Shriyade Mati Kala Board, a former district general secretary of Udaipur City, and a former state general secretary who is also a former MLA.
