The incident took place at Aanch Hospital, situated on SL Marg, where relatives preparing for final rites received the remains of an entirely different person. The severe lapse came to light only after the family had already travelled roughly twenty kilometres with the body, leading to chaotic scenes and furious protests outside the healthcare facility.
Identity Error Discovered Far From the Facility
According to the distressed family, basic verification and handover protocols were thoroughly disregarded by hospital staff. Having collected the body, the relatives proceeded on their journey toward their destination, entirely unaware of the mix-up. It was only after covering a distance of approximately twenty kilometres that closer inspection revealed the devastating truth that the body in their possession belonged to a stranger. Shocked and deeply distressed, the family immediately turned back to confront the administration.
