The municipal elections in Jalore turned chaotic when a severe dispute broke out between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party candidates along with their supporters during the polling process in ward number 33. The situation escalated rapidly after the voting concluded, prompting Congress candidate Pawan Dave to march over to the residence of the superintendent of police accompanied by his supporters to stage a sit-in protest late into the night. Dave accused the rival BJP candidate and their election agent of physical assault and demanded immediate legal action. Upon receiving information about the commotion, personnel from the Kotwali police station rushed to the spot and eventually removed the protesting Congress candidate and his supporters, taking them away to the police station.
Dispute Outside The Polling Booth
The entire controversy originated right outside the polling booth during active voting hours. According to the version put forth by Congress candidate Pawan Dave, the trouble began when the election agent belonging to BJP candidate Jai Singh grabbed his arm outside the polling station in ward 33. This incident was quickly followed by an alleged assault on Dave orchestrated by the BJP candidate. Dave stated that he immediately informed the local police authorities about the incident and sought strict action, but his frustration grew when the authorities failed to take any concrete steps in response to his grievance.
All-Night Sit-In Protest Outside Official Residence
Frustrated by the perceived inaction of law enforcement, the Congress candidate and his supporters arrived at the superintendent of police's residence under the cover of night and commenced a continuous sit-in demonstration. The gathered supporters raised slogans and demanded strict action against those deemed responsible for the altercation. After the protest continued for a considerable duration, Kotwali police officers arrived to negotiate with the crowd. While the initial attempts to reason with the demonstrators failed to restore calm, the police eventually transported the candidate and his backers to the local police station. Meanwhile, the opposite camp represented by the BJP candidate also presented their side of the narrative and countered the accusations, leaving law enforcement with competing complaints to investigate.

The violent altercation outside the voting center has significantly heated up the political atmosphere in the locality.
