A major racket diverting subsidized agricultural fertilizer for commercial manufacturing has been uncovered in Rajasthan's Dausa district. Acting on specific information, agriculture department officials conducted a nighttime raid in Balaheda village, where subsidized neem-coated urea intended strictly for farming was being processed into diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) for motor vehicles. During the operation, enforcement authorities confiscated approximately 3,000 litres of ready-to-sell chemical fluid stored in large holding tanks on the premises.

The inspection team was spearheaded by Ashok Meena, Assistant Director of the Agriculture Department, who led the surprise check on the illegal facility. Upon searching the site, officials discovered stockpiles of neem-coated urea bags alongside storage containers filled with roughly 3,000 litres of processed DEF solution. Recognizing the scale of the offence, the raiding team alerted the local law enforcement authorities. Station House Officer Manisha Meena arrived at the scene with a contingent from the Baijupada police station to secure the evidence.
Commercial Misuse of Subsidised Agricultural Fertilizer
Findings from the site revealed that low-cost fertilizer supplied exclusively to support crop cultivation was being systematically melted down and converted into automotive emissions fluid. Officials classified the operation as an illegal commercial diversion of agricultural inputs, which undermines farmer allocations. The department promptly confiscated all remaining bags of neem-coated urea and seized the entire 3,000 litres of the manufactured chemical solution present at the unit.
FIR Lodged Against Mukesh Kumar Under the Essential Commodities Act
Following the seizure, legal proceedings were initiated against an individual named Mukesh Kumar at Baijupada police station. Police invoked Section 25 of the Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic or Mixed) (Control) Order, 1985, along with Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Investigators are now probing the supply chain to uncover where the accused procured bulk quantities of subsidized fertilizer and to determine how long the unauthorized production facility had been running unnoticed.
