Five men accused of robbing commuters near Gorada Ghata in Dungarpur disguised themselves as women and hid in the forest to dodge arrest, but Chaurasi police tracked down and caught all of them within 48 hours.

Police in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district cracked a highway robbery case in just two days, but what stunned everyone was how the five accused tried to dodge arrest, dressing up as women and hiding out in a forest.

How the robbery unfolded

The incident took place on the night of August 30. Around 2:30 am, near Gorada Ghata, five men stopped commuters travelling on the road, beat them up, and made off with roughly Rs 5,000 in cash along with two mobile phones.

Once the robbery was carried out, the accused apparently feared they would soon be traced. To avoid being identified, they reportedly dressed as women and set up hiding spots in the forest and hills around Ladsaur, hoping to stay out of police sight.

The raid and arrests

During the investigation, Chaurasi police station got a tip that the robbers were holed up in the forest. Acting on the input, a team raided the spot and picked up all five men. Following their disclosures, officers also recovered two power bikes that had been used in the robbery.

Who the accused are

The five arrested men are residents of Ladsaur and have been identified as Shailesh, Vijay, Rahul, Dungar and Tarachand. During questioning, they admitted to carrying out the robbery. Police are now trying to establish whether the group was involved in any other cases, and are also working to recover the stolen items. Chaurasi police station officer Ratanlal Jatiya shared details of the case.
