A major corruption case has surfaced in Jaipur Rural district, where the Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) executed a successful trap operation at Amarsar police station. ACB officials arrested Head Constable Ratan Lal Arya and a local liquor shop salesman named Rakesh Kumar Meena red-handed while accepting a bribe of 40,000 rupees. The money was allegedly demanded to dismiss an ongoing complaint and prepare an official police investigation report in favor of the complainant.
How the Extortion Scheme Unfolded
The case was set into motion when a local citizen approached the ACB Jaipur City-I unit with a formal complaint. The victim stated that a matter was registered against him at Amarsar police station. Head Constable Ratan Lal Arya, who was handling the case, assured him that the complaint would be completely dropped and the official police findings would be recorded in his favor if he paid a bribe. Facing pressure, the complainant decided to report the illegal demand to corruption control authorities.
Negotiation from 50000 to 40000 Rupees
Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB team conducted a discreet verification exercise in Amarsar to confirm the authenticity of the allegations. The preliminary probe established that the head constable was indeed soliciting illegal gratification. Initially, Head Constable Ratan Lal Arya demanded 50,000 rupees to settle the police record. However, after repeated negotiations between the victim and the policeman, the bribe amount was finalized at 40,000 rupees. This agreed amount of 40,000 rupees served as the groundwork for the planned law enforcement operation.
Middleman Deployed and ACB Trap Operation
Hoping to evade legal scrutiny and avoid direct contact with cash, Head Constable Ratan Lal Arya refrained from taking the money personally. Instead, he used Rakesh Kumar Meena, a salesman working at a local liquor store in Amarsar, as an intermediary. Acting on the constable's instructions, Rakesh Kumar Meena arrived at the designated spot to collect the 40,000 rupees cash from the victim. Having pre-mapped the operation, a plainclothes team from the ACB was stationed at the location. The moment Rakesh Kumar Meena took possession of the bribe money, ACB personnel moved in and apprehended him on the spot.
Official Confirmation and Wider Investigation
ACB DIG (Second) Omprakash Meena confirmed that following the arrest of salesman Rakesh Kumar Meena with the bribe money, key accused Head Constable Ratan Lal Arya was promptly taken into custody. ACB officials are currently carrying out detailed interrogations of both individuals. The investigation aims to determine whether other officers or staff members at Amarsar police station were part of this systemic bribe collection activity. The sudden raid has triggered significant panic among personnel at the police station and generated intense public discussion across the region.
