The monsoon has fully intensified across Rajasthan, with widespread rainfall expected to continue across most parts of the state for the next 48 hours. According to the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, the south-west monsoon is advancing rapidly and is expected to cover the entire state and the rest of the country within the next 2 to 3 days. Currently, the northern boundary of the monsoon has reached Barmer, Jodhpur, Rajgarh in Churu district, and up to Bhatinda.
Weather Systems Driving the Rainfall
Multiple meteorological systems are currently contributing to the heavy rainfall in the state. The depression previously over eastern India has weakened and moved over south-eastern Madhya Pradesh, transforming into a 'well-marked low-pressure' area. Additionally, a seasonal trough extends from north-west Rajasthan to north-east Bangladesh. Further support comes from an upper-level trough stretching from the north-east Arabian Sea to Sikkim, combined with an active western disturbance. The synergy of these weather systems is resulting in extensive rain activity throughout Rajasthan.
