A welcome procession stretched for about five kilometres through Lathi in Jaisalmer after Ruparam Bhil returned to his ancestral village in uniform for the first time. He had completed six months of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) training in Latur, Maharashtra, and travelled back by bus. At the bus station, a large gathering of villagers greeted him with drums, nagadas, DJ music, flowers and garlands.
Ruparam’s family and the village had been happy since his selection to the CRPF. Dharmaram Bhil, a farmer and Lathi resident, is his father. Ruparam finished the six-month course in Latur, Maharashtra, and returned to his ancestral village by bus. As soon as villagers learned of his arrival, they began preparing the reception at the bus station. The moment was especially meaningful for the family because he was entering the village in uniform for the first time after training.
Warm reception at the bus station
On reaching the bus station, Ruparam was welcomed with the beats of nagadas and drums, DJ music, flowers and garlands. Villagers greeted him warmly and shared in the happiness surrounding his CRPF selection and completion of training. The occasion brought together the pride of his family and the wider village community.
Procession moves through the village
After the reception, villagers seated Ruparam in a car and a welcome procession moved through the village for about five kilometres, accompanied by drums, nagadas and DJ music. A large number of villagers joined it. Wearing his uniform, Ruparam stood on the vehicle and greeted people along the route. Flowers were showered on him and garlands were placed on him throughout the journey. When the procession reached his residence, villagers welcomed him again and expressed happiness over his achievement.
Hard work earns community recognition
Ruparam’s success was seen locally as the result of hard work and dedication. His selection for the CRPF has brought pride not only to his family but also to the entire village. For young people in the area, the achievement is a source of inspiration. His effort to reach the goal despite difficult circumstances is expected to motivate other youth to move ahead.
During the ceremony, villagers wished Ruparam a bright future and congratulated him on beginning his new journey of service to the country.
Those present at the procession included Jagdish Tawri and social worker Salman Khan. Balwantsingh, Nandkishor Pawri, Sundarlal Darji, Shivratan Panwar and Jamaluddin were also there. Sabir Khan, Shaitanaram, Gepraram Bhil, Hazariram, Keshararam and Khumaram participated in the welcome. Shivraj, Asharam, Tikuram Bhil, Sugnaram Mali, Haruram Bhil, Kanaram Bhil, Kirtaram, Faturam and a large number of villagers were present.
