Police and local administrative authorities in the border district of Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, executed one of the largest contraband destruction drives in the region. Illegal drugs with an estimated market value of approximately 169 crore INR, seized under various provisions of the NDPS Act, were completely incinerated following required judicial clearances and statutory protocols.
Destruction Executed Under Drug Disposal Committee Oversight
The disposal process was organized under the direct supervision of a designated Drug Disposal Committee. Officials ensured strict adherence to environmental safety protocols and security standards throughout the operation. Prior to burning, all confiscated consignments were meticulously verified against official records.
Inspector General (IG) of Police for Bikaner Range, Omprakash, alongside Sriganganagar Superintendent of Police (SP), Harishankar, were present on-site to oversee the entire exercise. The personal involvement of high-ranking officers guaranteed transparency during the disposal of the contraband.
Breakdown of Contraband Seized Across 101 Legal Cases
The destroyed materials pertained to a total of 101 distinct cases registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Destruction proceedings were initiated only after obtaining necessary authorizations from the competent court.
The inventory of incinerated substances includes
- Heroin: A consignment of 84 kilograms of high-grade heroin, carrying substantial value in international markets, was destroyed.
- Restricted Pills: Over 1,600 banned psychotropic and habit-forming tablets seized across multiple raids were burnt.
Strict Stance Against Regional Smuggling Networks

District authorities reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling supply chains, curbing illicit trade, and taking stringent legal action against traffickers operating in Sriganganagar.
