Protesting over the fertilizer shortage and farmers' grievances, Naresh Meena has called off his hunger strike following discussions with senior administrative officials. After authorities assured swift action to address the concerns of local farmers, the blockade on Tonk Road was cleared, allowing vehicular movement to return to normal.
Agreement Reached with Administrative Officials
Senior officials held direct talks with Naresh Meena in Tonk to resolve the ongoing standoff. The discussions focused primarily on resolving the distribution bottleneck of fertilizers and addressing immediate rural issues. With administrators committing to practical remedies, an understanding was reached that prompted the formal withdrawal of the agitation.
Normal Traffic Restored on Tonk Road
The protest had previously halted traffic along Tonk Road, causing significant congestion and disruption for daily commuters and long-distance travellers. As soon as the hunger strike was officially called off, authorities worked to dismantle the road blockades. The corridor has since been fully reopened, restoring standard traffic flow across the highway.
Background of the Fertilizer Agitation
The demonstration gained momentum over severe fertilizer shortages faced by cultivators in the region. During the course of the campaign, Naresh Meena undertook a barefoot foot march toward Jaipur, later resorting to a handcart after sustaining blisters on his feet. Local residents, including rural women, had also appealed to him to end his fast before senior administrators stepped in to broker a settlement.
