A major breakthrough has been achieved against illicit drug trafficking networks in Rajasthan as the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) captured Kanwararam, a wanted smuggler carrying a cash reward of one lakh rupees. The accused had successfully evaded law enforcement authorities for three years and was counted among the state's top 25 priority narcotics offenders. The specialized operation leading to his apprehension was executed in the border district of Barmer.
Targeted Strike Under Operation Vishkapil
The arrest was carried out as part of a dedicated mission titled 'Operation Vishkapil', devised to track down long-absconding drug peddlers and mafia figures. Acting on tactical inputs, ANTF personnel tracked Kanwararam to his hideout in Barmer and closed in to apprehend him before he could execute another escape. Inspector General (IG) of ANTF Vikas Kumar confirmed the arrest, terming it a substantial blow against interstate narcotics networks operating across the region.
Eight Guard Dogs Used as an Early Warning Alarm
To dodge arrest, Kanwararam constantly moved between temporary shelters and monitored police maneuvers in the vicinity. Investigators found that he had deployed a unique surveillance mechanism by keeping eight domestic dogs at his residence. Whenever any stranger, suspicious individual, or police personnel approached the premises, the dogs would instantly bark and raise an alarm. This alert system provided him with critical minutes to slip away before security forces could seal the entry points.
Fourteen Criminal Cases Registered Across Two States
Kanwararam holds an extensive criminal history spanning both Rajasthan and neighboring Madhya Pradesh. Multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act stand registered against him across various police stations. His criminal sheet is not limited to contraband trafficking; it also includes heinous offenses such as murder and physical assault, taking his total tally of registered criminal cases to 14.
Sustained Manhunt Concludes, Syndicate Under Scanner
Following the establishment of the ANTF headquarters, a formal bounty of one lakh rupees was placed on Kanwararam due to his prominent position among the state's top 25 narcotics offenders. With his arrest, law enforcement officials have turned their attention toward mapping his wider operational syndicate. Ongoing interrogations are focused on identifying his local suppliers, transport associates, and interstate distribution contacts across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
