A local dispute surrounding upcoming panchayat elections took a violent turn in Dholipahadi village under the Tapukara region of Khairthal district, Rajasthan. A group of over a dozen individuals allegedly assaulted two brothers with sticks and bottles after the siblings asserted their right to vote independently without outside pressure. Both brothers sustained severe injuries during the brutal assault and had to be rushed for advanced medical care.
The Voting Dispute
According to available details, certain local residents approached Shakir and his brother Mormal, demanding that they cast their votes in favour of a specific faction in the ongoing panchayat elections. The aggressors insisted that the brothers must align their voting choice with the group's preference. However, the situation escalated rapidly when Shakir made it clear that they intended to exercise their franchise according to their own free will.
The Violent Assault
Refusing to bow down to external pressure regarding their democratic right triggered a violent retaliation. Reports indicate that a mob consisting of more than a dozen people gathered late at night and targeted the two brothers. Armed with wooden sticks and glass bottles, the attackers inflicted severe physical trauma on Mormal and Shakir, leaving them badly wounded before fleeing the spot.
Following the attack, the grievously injured brothers were rushed to the Tapukara Community Health Centre. Medical personnel provided initial stabilization treatment, but due to the gravity of their injuries, both victims were subsequently referred to Alwar for specialized medical attention. Authorities are currently investigating the specific allegations made by the victims to verify the sequence of events and take appropriate legal action.
