Boundaries, languages, and cultures often turn into mere formalities when two people fall in love. A heartwarming example of this unfolded in the streets of Sangaria in Hanumangarh district, where foreign guests were seen dancing enthusiastically to the beats of brass bands and traditional Rajasthani folk tunes. The marriage of Romain, a groom hailing from France, and Divya Jyoti, a daughter of the local town, has become a major talking point and an inspiring example across the entire region.
A Romance That Blossomed In New Zealand
Divya Jyoti is the daughter of retired education worker Purushottam Singh and teacher Geeta Goyal, residents of Ward 13. After completing her BTech from Gwalior, she worked with top IT companies in Gurugram and Noida. Career opportunities eventually took her to New Zealand, where she crossed paths with Romain, a mechanical engineer from France. What started as a casual acquaintance gradually transformed over time into a deep relationship and a mutual commitment to spend their lives together. About a year ago, the couple shared their feelings with their respective families. Despite coming from two completely different cultural backgrounds and environments, the families discussed the matter and happily consented to their children's decision.
Foreign Guests Embrace Desi Traditions
To attend the wedding, around 10 to 12 family members and relatives accompanied Romain from France to Sangaria. Hosted in Hanumangarh, these guests closely observed Indian traditions, mehendi ceremonies, and auspicious rituals, participating in every celebration with boundless energy. When this extraordinary wedding procession made its way through the market of Sangaria, onlookers stopped in their tracks to admire the foreign guests embracing the local desi style.
Traditional Wedding Rituals According To Vedic Customs
The main ceremony was held at a local palace, where Divya and Romain completed their marriage rites through Panigrahan Sanskar and took the seven vows following traditional Sanatan Dharma customs and Vedic procedures. Despite living abroad, the couple prioritized their homeland and traditional values, demonstrating just how important a connection to one's roots remains even amidst modern lifestyles.
