Udaipur Implements Special Traffic Plan from November 6 to 15 to Manage Festive Rush and Tourist Influx

Udaipur traffic police have introduced a special one-way traffic plan effective from November 6 to 15 to manage heavy tourist crowds and festive shoppers during Diwali.

In anticipation of massive tourist influx and festive shopping crowds during the Diwali season, the traffic police in Udaipur have implemented a comprehensive special traffic plan. With a significant number of visitors, particularly from neighboring Gujarat, expected to arrive during the post-Diwali holidays, authorities have taken proactive measures to prevent severe traffic congestion across key commercial and tourist hubs.

Schedule and Operational Hours

The revised one-way traffic regulations will remain in effect from November 6 to 15. These restrictions will apply daily between 8:00 AM and 11:00 PM. Motorists navigating through the old city markets, Jagdish Chowk, Chandpole, Hathipole, and the City Palace area must strictly adhere to the designated alternative routes to ensure smooth movement for both residents and visitors.

Specific Route Diversions

Vehicles traveling from Surajpole toward the City Palace, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers, will be permitted to pass via the old CR, Ice Factory, and Rangniwas, though buses and heavy commercial vehicles will be barred from this route. Conversely, four-wheelers leaving from the rear gate of the City Palace can travel toward Patel Circle via Doodh Talai, Pala Ganeshji, and Kishanpole. On the route from Jagdish Chowk to Chandpole, three-wheelers and four-wheelers are prohibited, allowing only one-way entry for two-wheelers.

Hathipole and Chandpole Regulations

All vehicle types are permitted to travel one-way from Jagdish Chowk toward Hathipole via the Ghantaghar police station route, while the return path from Hathipole to Jagdish Chowk is restricted strictly to two-wheelers. Similarly, traffic from Hathipole can move toward Chandpole via Jatwadi, but vehicles with three or four wheels cannot return from Chandpole to Hathipole. Motorists traveling from Chandpole toward Brahmpole via Jada Ganeshji are allowed, but heading directly from Brahmpole to Chandpole in three or four-wheelers is restricted, requiring them to use alternative routes through Teachers Colony, Ambamata police station, Yadav Colony tri-junction, Ambavgarh kachi basti, and the new culvert.

Tourist Area Restrictions

Traffic around the tourist police station is also heavily regulated, prohibiting three and four-wheelers from moving between Jagdish Chowk and the station. Vehicles exiting the tourist police station will route past Rangniwas, Kalaji Goraji, and in front of the RMV tri-junction toward Amrit Namkeen. Furthermore, entry toward Kalaji Goraji from V-Mart via RMV is blocked for three and four-wheelers, and similar restrictions apply from Ambamata Chowk toward Ambapole and Jada Ganeshji.

Guidelines for Transit Travelers

Tourists arriving from Gujarat who intend to visit Kumbhalgarh, Haldighati, or out-of-town resorts are advised to bypass the inner city entirely. By utilizing the Kaya-Amberi bypass near Kaya on the Ahmedabad highway, travelers can circumvent urban congestion and proceed directly via the Amberi highway toward Kumbhalgarh, Haldighati, Nathद्वारा, Eklingji, and Jaipur. Authorities have urged all residents and visitors to cooperate with the traffic police and review the designated routes before heading out.

Rerouting for Diwali makes sense, but keeping so many areas one-way from 8 AM to 11 PM will make daily commutes a nightmare for locals. The cops should have kept some flexibility.

Rohan, you have a point, but tell me, did the police set up any separate routes for emergency vehicles during this time?
