The command of this sensitive and crucial investigation has been handed over to Gayatri Rathore, a 1997 batch senior IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre known for her strict and decisive approach. Currently serving as the Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, she will lead the team to thoroughly examine the entire episode. Additionally, in the interest of the affected aspirants, authorities decided to conduct a re-examination at two test centers in Jaipur on 5 September 2026, which falls on a Saturday.

At present, she holds the post of Principal Secretary in the Medical, Health, and Medical Education Department of Rajasthan.
Composition of the Three Member Committee
In the three-member inquiry panel formed by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences, Gayatri Rathore serves as the chairperson. The committee also includes a joint secretary-level official from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with a senior engineering officer from the Central Electricity Authority. An engineering expert was specifically included in the team to trace the technical reasons behind the sudden power outage during the NEET PG 2026 examination.
Scope of Investigation and Expected Action
The committee will conduct a point-by-point review of management shortcomings, power backup arrangements, and the role of the examining agency at the affected Jaipur centers. By cross-checking digital evidence and grievances presented by the candidates, the panel will determine the exact level where the lapse occurred. The committee will submit its detailed report directly to the government, paving the way for strict action against those found responsible.
